The municipality of Wolfsthal in the district of Bruck an der Leitha is nestled between the Danube and the wooded hills of the Königswarte and Schafberg: surrounded by fields and vineyards, directly on the Danube cycle path and not far from the Donau-Auen National Park. With its beautiful forests and romantic hiking routes, Wolfsthal is a popular place for quiet getaways and beautiful excursions.

Thanks to its close location - just 4 kilometers from Bratislava city center - Wolfsthal is also an ideal starting point for excursions to Slovakia. There is a direct bus connection to the neighboring country.

In the historic Valley of the Wolves: moving historical facts
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1083. In the second half of the 17th century, the original Romanesque church was extended - a few decades later it became a pilgrimage church. In 1911, the Preßburgerbahn was built, which has had its terminus in Wolfsthal since 1955.

In 2007, the mayor of Wolfsthal was awarded the first Centrope Prize for his support for the integration of citizens of Slovakian origin: This is awarded for outstanding, cross-border and people-connecting achievements in the greater Central European region.

Wolfsthal: Excursion destinations & leisure tips
The Königswarte is Austria's easternmost mountain. It is surrounded by the villages of Berg, Edelstal and Wolfsthal. Numerous family-friendly routes lure visitors to the family-friendly excursion mountain. And children in particular - but not only - love the fallow deer enclosure and the 22-metre-high viewing tower.
The ruins of Pottenburg Castle, built between 955 and 1025, are also well worth a visit.
