A themed trail through Mautern leads visitors in the footsteps of St. Severin. With a total of eight stations, the "Kulturweg Favianis Mutaren Mautern" leads from the Römerhalle through the old town and reports on highly interesting historical events.

Severin of Noricum: He probably came from Italy. He was probably also of noble descent, and yet Severin of Noricum decided to live as a monk. The saint finally chose "Ad Vineas", a spot in the vineyards of Mautern, then known as Favianis, as his retreat. As Eugippius, his disciple, reported on the life of this crossroads of cultures, he founded his monastery here, took care of the distribution of food and clothing from his hermitage and secured the release of many a prisoner of war.
