Show vineyard and viticulture museum in Straßertal
In the museum for cooperage and viticulture in Straß im Straßertal, you can find out everything worth knowing about cooperage, an almost extinct craft, wine and wine culture on around 4,000m2.
Under the motto "From the vine to the glass", you can explore the product wine from the vine to its processing in the cooperage and in the Strass Wine Museum. In the viticulture museum, for example, you will find equipment and tools from the time before mechanization. In the former workshop of the Schmid cooper family, the production of barrels is also presented step by step. When the demand for wooden barrels declined, the Schmid family closed their business and bequeathed it to the municipality of Straß, which set up today's Museum of Cooperage and Viticulture there.
The workshop itself was left in its former state, "as if the master had only left the workshop for a moment". On guided tours, which are also particularly interesting for families, you can see the saw and a Venetian creel in operation.
