Discovery trails in the Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German) Nature Park
The beauty and scenic diversity of the Lower Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German) is overwhelming. On the discovery trails of the nature park, you can trace this diversity on the theme of river, forest and wine.
You will be accompanied by three original inhabitants of the Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German): Bibi, the little beaver girl, Laci, the cheeky emerald lizard and Picus, the gray woodpecker will show you the landscape that was created by the Kamp, by Grandpa Kambos (= Celtic, the bent one).
If you would like to find out more about these three animal species, which are characteristic inhabitants of the Lower Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German), you can find more information about the beaver, the emerald lizard and the gray-headed woodpecker here.
The forest returns
At first glance, a scrubby slope can be seen above the village of Schönberg/Kamp. But if we take a closer look, we see terraces, dry stone walls and many an old vine clambering over the bushes. What has happened here? We are witnessing the process of "renaturation" of an old vineyard. The forest - nature - is returning to a former cultivated area. At the following stations, you can discover how this works and what culture used to be in the upper part of the discovery trail.
