Under the motto "Small places – great stories", selected local walks in the Roman land Carnuntum and Marchfeld lead on partly unknown paths to historic buildings and old walls, through beautiful nature and hidden alleys.

Even the ancient Romans more than 2000 years ago knew to appreciate the healing powers of Austria's strongest

iodine-sulfur spring. The Bad Deutsch-Altenburg local walk tells the exciting story of the spa town, which is inseparably linked with the Roman city of Carnuntum. For the ancient Romans already appreciated the healing powers of Austria's strongest iodine-sulfur spring. But there is still much more to tell about the beautiful national park community.

To discover the Carnuntum-Marchfeld local walks, simply download the "Ortsspaziergänge" app on your smartphone, either online as a web app or as a native app, where an internet connection on site is not necessary. Your own position is displayed on a map during the walk - so you always stay on the right path! Google Play Store or App Store

    Roadbook

The local walk starts directly in front of the Kurzentrum Ludwigstorff in Badgasse. (Free parking option when arriving by car at the Kurzentrum parking lot; hourly train connection from/to Vienna). Then follow Badgasse towards the Danube. After a short distance, the beautiful spa park is reached, where the first audio story "Healing like the Romans" is already waiting. Now follow the main avenue to the Danube. Upon reaching the Danube, the path leads towards Museum Carnuntinum, where at the Emperor Franz Joseph monument the second audio story "Why the Emperor looks at the Danube" follows. Now walk back a bit on Badgasse and take the next opportunity to turn left into König Stephan Gasse. After a short distance follow the directional arrow to the Mariengrotto. Now the path goes uphill a bit to "climb" the Kirchenberg. Those who wish can take a break at the Kneipp and sensory course before continuing to the impressive church. More about the "Marienkirche and Karner" is told in the eponymous audio story. Now follow the path downhill towards Dörrweg to the fourth audio story "The Ö3 weather station". Continue down Dörrweg to Hainburger Straße, where turn right towards the main square. At the main square, the last audio story "Reichsgott Jupiter and his cult site at Pfaffenberg" waits. Then turn right into the narrow Carl Leopold Hollitzer Gasse, which leads along the community park towards Pfarrer Maurer Gasse. Cross this street and now take the small path directly on the left next to the Sulzbach. This path leads along the beautiful creek back directly to the Kurzentrum (Kurzentrum parking lot), the starting point of the Bad Deutsch-Altenburg local walk.
