The Karl Diwald winery, a family business, is located in a charming 17th century farmhouse and cultivates almost 10 hectares of vineyards. The focus is on the main variety, Grüner Veltliner, which is made into everything from light, fruity wines to ice wine. The range is complemented by Frühroter Veltliner, Chardonnay, Riesling and Gelber Muskateller. The red wine varieties are dominated by Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Blauer Portugieser.
The winery produces 70 percent white wine and 30 percent red wine. The Diwald family attaches great importance to quality, which is achieved through short pruning, good foliage work, selective harvesting and gentle fermentation. These efforts have already been rewarded with very good ratings in several wine magazines. Karl Diwald jun. is responsible for the wine, having gained valuable experience in renowned Austrian wineries as well as in Napa Valley and South Africa.
