Wachau World heritage Trail: Access from the ferry station to stage 11

The roll ferry connects Weißenkirchen with St. Lorenz. From the landing stage, the path passes the modern sculpture “Wachauer Nase” by Gelitin and the Roman burgus, continuing towards the Steinige Ries nature reserve. Here, the Welterbesteig Wachau is reached: to the left the trail leads towards Rossatz, and to the right towards Hofarnsdorf.

Thanks to good rail connections, travelling to the Wachau in a relaxed and sustainable way is easy. Within the region, a dense public transport network ensures that all stages can be conveniently reached by bus, train, ferries and boats, making it simple to combine different stages.

The Wachau World Heritage Trail is also awarded the Austrian Hiking Quality Seal. This certification stands for high standards in route layout, waymarking, safety and infrastructure, confirming the trail as a reliable and high-quality hiking experience at the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site.
