Information about: changing exhibitions on the history, culture and art of the town of Klosterneuburg, interesting events, guided tours, readings, etc.

The Klosterneuburg City Museum sees itself as a "museum for generations". For example, the permanent exhibition "Once upon a time ..." - The development of the town of Klosterneuburg, which opened in 2008, was designed by pupils from the Anton Bruckner School with children in mind. The result: additional handwritten texts in easy-to-understand language, illustrated with children's drawings, play stations ...

In addition, the museum presents several special exhibitions each year with historical or art-historical content as well as exhibitions of works.

PERMANENT EXHIBITION
"ONCE UPON A TIME ..."
THE BECOMING OF THE CITY OF KLOSTERNEUBURG

On October 1, 2016, the City Museum was finally able to reopen the permanent exhibition on "The Making of the City of Klosterneuburg". Due to necessary renovation work and the renewal of the air conditioning system, the presentation, which had been opened to the public in 2008, had to be temporarily closed.
The original concept, which was designed to appeal to young visitors in particular, was largely retained when the exhibition was reinstalled. Our museum mascots Max Historicus, a gangly H, and Momo Historica will guide anyone interested through the exhibition. The tour begins with two 8000-year-old mammoth teeth and ends with some "special topics", such as "Klosterneuburg as a pioneering town", "The cadastral communities" or "Viticulture".

In addition to familiar highlights, such as the town charter from 1298 or a diorama depicting the Second Turkish Siege, visitors can also look forward to some new features. Four models showing the construction phases of the parish church of St. Martin give this area a completely new look. The builder of the models is Mr. Rudolf Maier, who also designed a new children's station: the train stations Klosterneuburg Weidling and Klosterneuburg Kierling as well as the model "The Town Hall Square Klosterneuburg". As we have already seen, it's not just children who enjoy playing with the little train! But other stations have also been expanded with additional objects, such as the medieval hall or the entrance area to the wine cellar. If desired, additional labels provide even more background information on some of the exhibits, such as the iron defensive shield or the prison door from the Rostock Villa.
