About a 45-minute walk south of Oberbergern, in the middle of the forest, lies the chapel "Zur Toten Frau". According to legend, in 1603 a merchant couple from St. Pölten intended to make a pilgrimage to Maria Langegg to pray for the recovery of their child. Robbers attacked the couple and killed the man. The woman, however, asked to be allowed to walk a little further to the place from where she could see Maria Langegg. Her request was granted, but then she too had to die. A picture on an oak tree commemorates this event. In 1803, today's chapel was built on the site of the picture tree.

Not far from the chapel, on the spot where the man was killed by the robbers, there is a wayside shrine.
