Interest became passion. Passion became a vocation. Michael Nährer has been living it out every day in the kitchen of his Gasthaus Nährer in Rassing since 2009. The down-to-earth and slightly upscale inn cuisine is well-known throughout the St. Pölten district. It has charisma and attracts gourmets. The dishes prepared are a poem thanks to the superbly coordinated flavors. The venison duo is always cooked to perfection, but there are also other stars on the plate: the creamed cabbage, the polenta slice and the homemade red cabbage chutney. The head chef calls the Riesling goat's leg a "tip from the kitchen". The fried salmon trout fillet with young onion vegetables and herb noodles is always good. The service is personal and gives guests the feeling that they have arrived.
Own winery, fine cuisine
The wine list at Gasthaus Nährer sets a milestone when it comes to natural wines: such a wide selection from various countries is rarely found in Austria. The red-white-red products are not forgotten, and the grapes grow and thrive magnificently in the restaurant's own vineyards. The bread is also home-baked. The family atmosphere in the inn is particularly evident in the stylish parlor and dining room. The courtyard and terrace, both of which are covered, are delightful and enhanced with lovely decorative elements. However, it is the superior inn cuisine that is always the topic of conversation. Away from the regional culinary delights, a visit to the state capital with its extensive cultural offerings is well worthwhile.
