Weingut Heiß

The Heiß winery, which has existed for several generations, has been continuously expanded by the ancestors. After completing his training at the Krems School of Viticulture, Matthias Heiß joined the family business in 2008. Together with his father Ernst, he strives to keep up with the times and constantly improve the products. Although the winery is not yet a certified organic operation, all phases of cultivation and vinification are carried out on a natural basis.

Matthias Heiß sees pruning as the most important control instrument in viticulture and regularly updates his knowledge of it. For years, he has practiced “low-wound” pruning, in which as few cuts as possible are made to the vine and an even “sap balance” is created. This increases the vitality of the plant and ensures that it can develop its full potential at around 30 to 40 years of age. The Heiß winery is often considered an “insider tip” among wine lovers, which reinforces the commitment to continue to give its best. With great enthusiasm, the knowledge and experience is put at the service of the culture of wine and enjoyment, which has a lasting influence on the region.
