Sitzenberg Castle was once a fortress. Four onion-shaped towers still bear witness to the fortified nature of the castle. Four staircases lead to several balconies, which offer a sweeping view of the countryside. Since 1951, the castle has been a federal college for agricultural and nutritional science. Cultural events are also held there on a regular basis. In summer, the castle concerts and summer plays are held at Sitzenberg Castle.
Sitzenberg is a very old place, the castle was already the property of the princes of Styria in the 12th century, later the cathedral bailiff of Regensburg and Duke Frederick II the Quarrelsome, who passed the castle on as a fief. There is also a beautiful castle pond next to the castle.
Top-class cultural events take place at Sitzenberg Castle. The castle concerts and summer plays always take place in summer.
