There is much to explore during a visit to the Lower Austrian pilgrimage site in Groißenbrunn - from the historic church to the legendary healing spring.

In 1718, the people of Groißenbrunn discovered a spring not far from a brick cross: the Marienbründl, which is still regarded today as water with healing powers. As a pilgrimage destination and spiritual place, the Groißenbrunn parish church can look back on a long history.

The baroque building was begun in 1751 and completed in 1763. In 1774, Abbot Urban II of Melk ordered the current design with three altars. In the 1980s, the church, which had already been badly damaged by fire and war, was extensively renovated and restored.

Today there is much to discover in the pilgrimage church of St. Ägydius Groißenbrunn, which can be seen from afar. The high altar stands out as a concave stucco marble altar from 1774 - with a pilaster structure and high altarpiece. The miraculous image of Mariahilf is flanked by two valuable angels. A baroque chandelier from the 18th century, a coat of arms stone from 1734 and the organ from 1751 are also significant.

The parish of Groißenbrunn is part of the parish association of Melk parishes in Marchfeld. It is looked after by dedicated Benedictine monks from Melk Abbey.
