Orth Castle lies at the heart of the Donau-Auen National Park. For centuries, the Habsburgs guided its fortunes and history. It was particularly popular with Crown Prince Rudolf, who had his hunting and nature sojourns here accompanied by the Schrammeln. As a museum location, the palace has provided space for culture for around 70 years, and was formerly also known as the Fisheries and Danube Museum.
The museumORTH offers a wide range of topics to explore: Life on the Danube, the history of the castle, beekeeping and agriculture, as well as the Orth composer Karl Schiske are presented through photographs, objects and artistically designed installations. Temporary exhibitions round off the offer.
The restoration of the culturally and historically significant spiral staircase also opens up previously unknown areas and perspectives and reveals new insights into the castle's architectural history.
