  • Maria Ellend pilgrimage church

A chapel "Unserer lieben Frau im Ellend" was first mentioned in 1466. The present pilgrimage church to Our Lady of the Rosary was built between 1770 and 1772 by Franz Josef Gabriel von Abensperg and Traun. Pilgrimages to the miraculous image of Our Lady began: pilgrimage site with Way of the Cross, Rosary Way, Maria Lourdes Grotto, Calvary with the Poor Souls Chapel, Guardian Angel and Antonius Chapel, statue of Christ the King.

In 1909, the Lourdes Grotto was built on the opposite side of the road with a large square in front of it. Surrounded by a 4-hectare wooded park with a Way of the Cross, a Rosary Way and several small chapels, the grotto offers enough space for larger celebrations. The pilgrimage park invites visitors to reflect, relax or simply take a walk in nature.

Other sights include the mosaic picture of "Our Lady of the Road", which was placed on the portal façade of the pilgrimage church in 1910, and the mission exhibition, which offers an insight into the worldwide missionary work of the Missionaries of the Holy Family, who have had their only Austrian branch here at the pilgrimage site since 1929.
