The Artothek is a service-oriented educational institution that aims to promote interest in the visual arts by lending out works of art. Daily contact with art, both at work and at home, sharpens the eye and can lead to a broader and better understanding of art.

In contrast to viewing art in museums and temporary exhibitions, a work of art can change again and again in daily interaction, visual conventions can be questioned and a generally more differentiated, analytical way of seeing can emerge. Especially in a society that is constantly flooded with fast-moving media and commercial images, a concentrated, long-term view of art is desirable and necessary.

The strength of the ARTOTHEK is its enormous stylistic diversity. Here you will find gestural-abstract works as well as traditional landscape paintings, monochrome pictures as well as neo-realistic tendencies. Regardless of age, subjective taste or available hanging space, everyone can find their "personal" work of art in the ARTOTHEK.

The pictures are displayed on the walls and on large sliding shelves over an exhibition area of around 300 m². Visitors can select and choose for themselves, but staff are also happy to advise them.
