Committed to tradition: Winzerhof Dürauer has been run under our name since 1848. In 1981 Rudolf Dürauer took over the farm in Aigen, five years later his wife Maria became the manager. Since 2004, Josef Dürauer and Sabrina have been at the helm of this traditional business.
A healthy vine needs sun, air and space. Our vineyards in the Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German) wine-growing region offer all of this. This is because the Wachau ends just before Krems - and the narrow Danube valley widens into a sun-drenched plain. Our vineyards are called Oberfeld, Gottschelle, Landwid and Hatratstall. These names originated hundreds of years ago. Each vineyard has its own special features. Not only fragrant Grüne Veltliner thrives on primary rock and loess soil. In recent years, we have also been able to produce excellent red wines that combine northern elegance with southern temperament. Our Roter Veltliner is particularly popular - a rarity that impresses connoisseurs with its strong aromas.
In our 200-year-old, vaulted earth cellar, modern stainless steel barrels stand next to French oak barrels for our barrique wines. We use them to mature our products into quality wines. Valuable awards confirm that we succeed in this year after year.
