With the takeover of the winery in 1984, Johann Schwarz continued a long-standing winemaking tradition that can be traced back to 1711. The winery's cellar facilities were rebuilt between 1993 and 1995. Johann Schwarz concentrates exclusively on the vinification of first-class, single-varietal and single-vineyard Wachau wines, harvested from the sunniest vineyards. Picture: View of Dürnstein from the new tasting arbor in the Schreiberberg vineyard. On 3.5 hectares of vineyards, primarily in the form of labor-intensive steep terraces, high-quality wines are produced that have received multiple awards from the international trade press, with Grüne Veltliner and Riesling forming the main focus. The Schwarz family also offers wine tastings and seminars with commentary as well as guided tours of the vineyards (by prior arrangement).

Tip: The range of wines in the attached vinotheque also includes very interesting older vintages, especially Grüne Veltliner and Riesling. The tempting vintner's truffles also enjoy an excellent reputation.
