  • Rest area at Eckartsau Castle

Nestled in the Danube floodplains and the enchanting castle park, the Imperial Hunting Lodge Eckartsau tells the exciting story of the end of the Danube Monarchy. In 1918/19 it was the last residence of Emperor Karl and Zita in Austria. Hear from Empress Zita's diaries about the touching and private moments of the last days of the imperial family on Austrian soil.

TIP: The Wild°Wechsel national park exhibition not only whets your appetite for a walk in the Au, but also allows you to trace the history of this landscape back to the 19th century. Discover the habitat and find out why the white-tailed eagle would be suitable for the job of a pilot and which animal would fit the job profile of a lifeguard or detective.

In addition to our romantic castle park, you can also relax in the castle café in the inner courtyard.
