The route from Gföhl to Senftenberg is especially worthwhile for sporty enthusiastic hikers. On this route, romantic natural scenery and impressive landmarks are explored dynamically. At the starting point of the hike, a first stop at the baroque parish church of St. Andreas is already worthwhile. Then it goes on quiet forest paths over Kühlberg past impressive rock formations into the Kremstal. The rock pulpit “Secret Court” is especially worth a stop. The stage leads directly over the villages of Untermeisling and Obermeisling to the destination Senftenberg. At the end of the route, a trip to the landmark of the wine town, the Senftenberg castle ruins, is recommended. The fantastic view from the ruins over the picturesque Kremstal perfectly rounds off the remarkable hiking route.
Author’s recommendation
High above the village towers the Senftenberg castle ruins in the Kremstal. It is the landmark of the idyllic wine village of the same name and offers a wonderful view of the wine terraces where the typical primary rock Riesling grows. There is much to explore at the castle ruins, and many stories revolve around the centuries-old structure.
