    Jauerling round: from Aggsbach Markt to Maria Laach

    From Aggsbach Markt, our path leads up to the Bireben plateau and through the Schildgraben further to Seeb. Through the hamlets Schlaubing and Litzendorf, we hike to Kreuzstöckerl, where we can rest comfortably. After visiting the Gothic pilgrimage church and the Kerblerhaus, we end the stage at the market square in Maria Laach.

    Recommended is the 24/7 farm shop in Maria Laach in the Kerblerhaus in the town center, open around the clock and daily with fine regional delicacies (for the hearty hiking snack) and souvenirs produced around the Jauerling. Furthermore: outdoor seating area, children's play and coffee corner

    There are many interesting themed and circular hiking trails in the Jauerling Nature Park.

    In Maria Laach, only the guesthouse "Zur Weißen Rose" (Fam. Busch, stamp station) at the market square is open in winter, www.weisse-rose.cc; 02712/8271, closed on Monday.

    Guesthouse/Hotel Grüner Baum, Maria Laach: open daily from early April to late October, www.hotel-ringl-wachau.at Tel: 02712 8303. Closed in winter.

    Cafe-Pub Donauwelle, Aggsbach Markt: open year-round Mon-Sun, 02712/373.

    The only wine tavern is located in Aggsbach Markt: family Kurz. In Willendorf, there is also the Heurigen Rudolf Schrutz, tel. 02712/543. Please observe the current wine tavern calendar on www.welterbesteig.at.

    Accommodation is available in Aggsbach Markt and Maria Laach.

    Public transport

    Unfortunately, the places are not directly connected by public transport. For the return trip to the starting point, we recommend the Bernhardt taxi company from Spitz, tel.: 02713/2222

    Travel to Aggsbach Markt is possible with the Wachau buses (WL 715 Krems-Spitz-Melk or Melk-Spitz-Krems) from the train stations Melk or Krems, www.vor.at

    A1 to the Melk exit, continue on the B3 to Aggsbach Markt or Maria Laach

    At the B3 near the campsite or the Venussaal in Aggsbach Markt or at the market square in Maria Laach.
