The Danube Cycle Path in Lower Austria connects diverse landscapes, historic towns, cultural sites and regional cuisine along the Danube. The route leads from the Upper Austrian border at Grein via the Nibelungengau and Wachau regions to Krems, continuing on to Tulln, Vienna and via Carnuntum through the Danube Floodplains National Park to Bratislava.
As part of the EuroVelo 6 route, the Danube Cycle Path runs along the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Danube Limes and connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Black Sea. Thanks to its gentle gradients, the route is particularly suitable for families and leisure cyclists. Between Upper Austria and Vienna, the cycle path is largely developed on both banks of the Danube and divided into easily planned stages.
Along the route, natural and cultural landscapes alternate, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Wachau and the cities of Krems and Vienna. A well-developed infrastructure with accommodation, bike service and rental points – including e-bikes – ensures comfortable cycling trips.
