The Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German) Nature Park covers over 25 square kilometers in the south-eastern Waldviertel and combines river landscapes, mountain slopes and typical vineyards. Visitors can hike, cycle or simply enjoy nature here. The Kamp has carved its way deep into the primary rock over thousands of years and shapes the varied landscape with river courses, gorges, waterfalls, sparse deciduous and pine forests and flower-rich dry grasslands. Particularly striking are the vineyards typical of the region, which together with the flora and fauna offer a unique natural experience.

Rare insects such as the praying mantis and reptiles such as the green lizard have found their habitat on the vineyards. Mammals and birds of prey are also at home here, and kingfishers, eagle owls and black storks can be seen on the riverbanks. In spring, the park is in full bloom: In addition to numerous herbs and shrubs, protected plants such as pulsatilla and the crested grape hyacinth, which is highly endangered in the northern foothills of the Alps, thrive here.

In addition to enjoying nature, the park also offers culinary experiences: The wines of the region can be tasted in the "Alte Schmiede", which is also a wine shop, cultural center and tourist information center. A summer freshness museum rounds off the offer. On discovery tours along the river, wine and forest nature trail, visitors can learn all about the special features of this diverse landscape. The starting point is the Alte Schmiede in Schönberg - ideal for anyone who wants to combine nature, culture and enjoyment.
