The Nativity Play Museum is home to the "Traismaurer Kripperl" - a puppet theater with a tradition going back over 200 years. This endearing puppet show is performed every year during Advent by the Traismauer nativity play group and the Traismauer choral society (1862). The original figures are exhibited in the specially adapted rooms of Traismauer Castle on the 1st floor. The nativity scene museum is open during Advent and on request.

The Kripperl - actually the Traismaurer Krippenspiel - is a particularly endearing tradition. It has been performed for over 200 years. Every year during Advent, old Christmas carols are sung in Traismauer. What is so special about it? - Well, these are very special songs - those of the "Kripperl". Originally created out of a need for money, it is now an integral part of the pre-Christmas season in Traismauer. The Kripperl takes its audience away from everyday life for about an hour.

Please note: Some of the figures are not on display in the museum during rehearsals and the performance of the nativity play.
