The Archduke Franz Ferdinand Museum has been in the castle since 1982. It features a permanent exhibition entitled “For Heart and Crown” that provides insights into the life of the crown prince and his family.

Artstetten Castle lies high above the Danube at the gateway to the Wachau in Lower Austria. It is surrounded by an enchanting park, offering a fairytale-like setting for experiencing fateful years in the history of Austria and Europe.

Visitors find out about the fine line between fortune and suffering, life and death and can immerse themselves in the multi-faceted world of Archduke France Ferdinand, political thinker, reformer, collector but above all family man.
The special theme changes every two years and picks up either on an aspect of his multifaceted life or presents life in fin de siècle Austria in all its various forms.
