Lower Austria celebrates its own season with Weinherbst (wine autumn)!
Central Europe’s largest series of events around wine takes place between the middle of August to the end of November – you are invited to the wine cellar festivities, walking tours of the vineyards, admittance to the vineyard huts, harvest festival celebrations, fermenting wine tasting, wine christening and many more colourful, varied and native wine celebrations.
Many wine growers in the Wachau and Kremstal regions offer comfortable rooms with modern facilities in the midst of the vineyards or with a view of the vineyards. Relaxation is just that: when the sun sets over the picture-book landscape and you end the day with the clink of a wine glass.
During the grape harvest, it is entirely dependent on how you’re feeling as to whether you help or watch from in the vineyard. The wine growers present their multiple award-winning wines at a narrated tasting.
You can discover the highlights of Wachau on a cycling tour through Wachau and a boat trip from Krems - Spitz
