The castle was built in 1588 under Julius II Count of Hardegg at the highest point of the Wagram. The castle towers above the countryside at the highest point of the Wagram. The magnificent Renaissance façade of the main two-story building was baroquized by Johann Jacob Castelli. Up until a few decades ago, the splendid rooms in the castle contained valuable treasures such as the armory. The plaster molding attests to this former glory.
