Gentle spring awakening

Discover the Wachau-Nibelungengau-Kremstal region!

Coming from the east, the Danube first flows through the Nibelungengau before connecting the World Heritage Site region of Wachau and the Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German). It flows past steep wine terraces, unspoilt forests, nature reserves and dry grasslands with a wealth of species: this is what makes the landscape between Ybbs and Furth bei Göttweig so unique.

Travelling the region's major routes

The Wachau-Nibelungengau-Kremstal region invites you to discover its beauty step by step. Whether on the Welterbesteig Wachau - Wachau World Heritage Trail, the Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German) Danube long-distance hiking trail or the Nibelungengau long-distance hiking trail - each of these trails opens up special insights into the landscape, culture and nature. Gentle Danube panoramas, panoramic mountain ranges and picturesque wine villages accompany hikers as well as quiet forest paths and places steeped in history.
